Hecate Lowland terrain is generally rough and rocky, with wide areas of muskeg wetland and bog forest.

It protects a small raised bog forest in a small depression with " Pinus uncinata " ssp . " rotundata ".

Bog forests with " Sphagnum " spp ., " Ledum groenlandicum ", and " Gaultheria hispidula " are infrequent but usually have a tree canopy of pure spruce ( Coates et al . 1994 ).

The four main trails in the Richmond Nature Park include : Bog Forest Trail ( 1.8 km ), Quaking Trail ( 1.6 km ), Time trail ( 0.83 km ) and Pond Trail ( 0.35 km ).
